
In 2006 bassist Justin Bernz and singer McCannon “Mox” Cassidy reformulated HomeGrown with saxophonist Oscar Deuss, keyboardist Ian Evans, and later in 2008 included drummer Spencer Wood. The band originally formed at Berklee College of Music in Boston but headed back to Bermuda where they affirmed their position as the top house band for the islands hottest nightclubs. They soon became Bermuda’s premier act and backing band, performing at all major events in Bermuda. They also had the privilege of touring the U.S. with Collie Buddz, one of the top reggae artists of our time. The band continues to perform on the road in major U.S. cities and colleges, while returning to Bermuda often to perform for the local crowd that has given them continued support throughout the years.
HomeGrown has been featured on MTV’s TEMPO backing Slanga, as well as Troy Anthony. HomeGrown brings the hottest live Reggae and Dancehall music from Bermuda with an extensive repertoire of originals and covers. Recognized internationally, they continue to grow their fan base while working with some of the biggest names in Reggae, Soca, and R&B. Currently HomeGrown is working on their first album to be released in 2010 which will include collaboration with Konshens, Capelton, Barrington Levy and more.
